Teaching Conference 2025

Call for Proposals

29TH ANNUAL UWSP TEACHING CONFERENCE
Wednesday, January 15, 2025

This year, we are thrilled to explore the theme of “High-Impact Practices: Enhancing Student Learning, Retention, and Success.” High-impact practices (HIPs) are educational strategies that have been shown to significantly benefit student engagement, retention, and achievement. UWSP has a rich history of providing our students with these experiences, which include collaborative projects, undergraduate research, service learning, and internships. Our conference will focus on how these practices can be effectively implemented to foster a more enriching and supportive learning environment for our students.

We invite colleagues from Academic and Student Affairs who have successfully implemented HIPs in their units to present. By the end of this conference, we hope to equip participants with practical tools and innovative ideas to enhance their teaching practices (whether inside or outside of the classroom) and contribute to the overall success of our students. Individuals or groups are encouraged to submit proposals for interactive workshops, panel discussions, or presentations that share examples of how you have implemented high-impact practices that have led to significant improvements in student engagement and success.

As you prepare your conference proposals, consider exploring the following questions:

  1. How can high-impact practices be tailored to meet the diverse needs of students in different disciplines?
  2. What role do high-impact practices play in promoting equity and inclusion in the classroom?
  3. What are the most effective methods for assessing the impact of HIPs on student learning and retention?
  4. How can institutions support faculty in the implementation and sustainability of high-impact practices?
  5. What challenges have you faced when integrating HIPs into existing curricula, and how did you address them?
  6. How can student feedback be used to refine and improve high-impact practices?

Proposals are due on or before Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

Session length (individual or panel): 40 minutes

The teaching conference planning committee will select proposals and notify presenters by Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
