UW-Stevens Point Campus Description

Points of Pride

  • U.S. News and World Report 2021 rankings place UW-Stevens Point 14th among regional public universities in the 12 states of its Midwest region. The university was recognized for solid reputation among peer institutions, low student-to-faculty ratio and retention of first-year students.  
  • The city of Stevens Point was recognized by Wallet Hub's "Best College Towns and Cities in America," ranking fifth out of 415 cities across the nation.
  • The education program at UW-Stevens Point has ranked second in the nation according to Study.com, for the second year in a row.
  • UW-Stevens Point is the only university in the state to have all of its fine arts programs (art, dance, music and theatre) nationally accredited.
  • UW-Stevens Point was the first university in the state to have 100 percent of its electricity come from renewable sources.
  • Viqtory Media has named UW-Stevens Point a Military Friendly School for the last ten consecutive years.
  • UW-Stevens Point is the first public university in the state to offer women's wrestling as a varsity sport.
  • Travelawaits.com, an international travel website, ranks UW-Stevens Point's Schmeeckle Nature Reserve as one of the best stops on the Wisconsin fall scenic road trip. UW-Stevens Point is the only campus in the state to have made the list.

  • 164 Group Exercise classes taught for 498 unique participants; each attended an average of three classes.
  • 378 unique participants played 419 games during three blocks of play in Intramurals
  • 799 unique participants attended open gym during the spring and fall, playing basketball, volleyball and using the track in the Multi-Activity Center

Study Abroad

  • 21 percent of our bachelor's degree recipients have studied abroad, a higher percentage than at other UW regional universities
  • UW-Stevens Point offers programs in 25 countries
  • As a member of the National Student Exchange, UWSP students have the opportunity to study full-time at universities throughout the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands
​Economic Impact

According to a June 2019 study by NorthStar Consulting, UW-Stevens Point campuses generate:

  • $671.3 million in total economic impact annually to Wisconsin's economy
  • $40.9 million in state and local tax revenue generated annually
  • For every $1 of state tax investment in UW-Stevens Point, there is $18.28 in economic activity in the state.
