Cisco Unity Messaging Voicemail Instructions

Cisco Unity Messaging brings together traditional phone functionality with that of Outlook.  You can listen to your voicemail messages, your calendar appointments, or your email (external) messages. 

In order to access voicemail, you MUST have voicemail set up on your office telephone.  Please contact the Telephone Support Office (715-346-2562, or telesup@uwsp.edu) to have voicemail installed, or for any voicemail issues.

On-Campus Unity Messaging Access:  Dial [2222].  Or, if using a 2420 telephone set, press the Messages button.

Off-Campus Unity Messaging Access:  Dial [715-346-2222].

Initial Set-up (to configure Cisco Unity Voicemail):
Step 1 – Dial-in to Unity Messaging
Step 2 -  If calling from off-campus, when you hear the recording, dial [*], then enter your ID (last 4-digits of campus telephone number).
Step 3 – Enter the default PIN (15951)
Step 4 – Please follow system instructions for the following:
     Record your name
     Set up a new PIN (password – 5-digits)
     Record your greeting
WAIT until you hear ‘You have finished enrollment’ then hang up.
 
Check Messages:
Step 1 – Dial-in to Unity Messaging
Step 2 - If calling from off-campus, when you hear the recording, dial [*], then enter your ID (last 4-digits of campus telephone number).
Step 3 - Enter PIN followed by #
Step 4 – Listen to voice prompts.
  
Change PIN:
Step 1 – Dial-in to Unity Messaging
Step 2 - If calling from off-campus, when you hear the recording, dial [*], then enter your ID (last 4-digits of campus telephone number).
Step 3 - Enter PIN followed by #
Step 4 – Press 4 > 3 > 1
Step 5 – Enter a new PIN (5-digit) and press #
Step 6 – Enter the new PIN again to confirm, then press #
 
Change Recorded Name:
Step 1 – Dial-in to Unity Messaging
Step 2 - If calling from off-campus, when you hear the recording, dial [*], then enter your ID (last 4-digits of campus telephone number).
Step 3 - Enter PIN followed by #
Step 4 – Press 4 > 3 > 2
Step 5 – At the tone, record your name, press # to end recording, or press * to keep the current recording.
 
Record a Greeting:
Step 1 – Dial-in to Unity Messaging
Step 2 - If calling from off-campus, when you hear the recording, dial [*], then enter your ID (last 4-digits of campus telephone number).
Step 3 - Enter PIN followed by #
Step 4 – Press 4 > 1 > 1
Step 5 – After Cisco Unity plays your current greeting, press 2 to enable or disable your alternate greeting.
*Note:  When your alternate greeting is enabled, it overrides all other greetings.
 
Enable or Disable a Greeting:
(You can enable or disable only your alternate greeting by phone.)
Step 1 – Dial-in to Unity Messaging
Step 2 - If calling from off-campus, when you hear the recording, dial [*], then enter your ID (last 4-digits of campus telephone number).
Step 3 - Enter PIN followed by #
Step 2 – Press 4 > 1 > 1
Step 3 – After Cisco Unity plays your current greeting, press 2 to enable or disable your alternate greeting.
*Note:  When your alternate greeting is enabled, it overrides all other greetings.
 
Reply to a Message:
Step 1 – After listening to the message, press 4
Step 2 – Record your reply
Step 3 – Press # to send the reply, or press 1 for message options
Step 4 – Follow the Cisco Unity conversation to handle the original message.
 
Forward a Message:
Step 1 – After listening to the message, press 5
Step 2 – Follow the Cisco Unity conversation to address the forward message.
Step 3 – Press # to forward the message as is, or press 2 to record an introduction, or press 3 for message options
Step 4 – Press # to forward the message as is, or press 1 for message options
 
PIN not working?  Forgot PIN?
Please call, or email, the Telephone Support Office (x2562 or telesup@uwsp.edu) to reset the PIN.
 

Keys to Manage Messages:
0 = Help
1 = Repeat
2 = Save
3 = Delete
4 = Urgent reply   
5 = Forward message
6 = Mark message new
7 = Skip back
9 = Message Properties
18 = Mark this message
