October 29, 2021 - DEBOT QUADS RESIDENTS - Steps to Keep Your Room Clean and Clear - Update

As mild, wet weather continues, UWSP Housing and Facility Services encourages all students to take the following steps to combat moisture within the halls!  Maintaining good air movement within residents’ rooms will ensure a safe and clean community.

Here how you can help:

  • Open your window as the weather allows. An opening of one inch is enough to circulate air.
  • Keep your door open when you are in your room and privacy is not a concern.
  • Keep drapes open during the day.
  • Ensure the fan icon is ON (not “auto”) on your air condition/heater fan coil unit
  • Hang towels to dry, and do not cover the fan
UWSP Housing is committed to providing a safe, clean environment for our residence hall students. If you have additional questions, please contact your residence hall director.

You can submit a work order here: https://workrequest.uwsp.edu/

October 14, 2021 - DEBOT QUADS RESIDENTS - Steps to Keep Your Room Clean and Clear

With the unusually warm, wet weather, students in a few residence halls have noticed growth in some rooms. UW-Stevens Point is aware of this and responding.

The well-being of our students is our top priority. Facility Services staff is working to remediate the situation and have retained a vendor to assist these efforts. They have and will continue to clean spaces, take other mitigation steps, and install room-size dehumidifiers in locations where excessive moisture is present.

Preventive maintenance is performed regularly on all housing HVAC equipment to ensure it is operating properly. Any issues are corrected immediately. Facility Services met with state engineers to assess the situation and is awaiting recommendations.

Maintaining good air movement within residents’ rooms is paramount as moisture control is the key to growth control.

Here are a few steps you can take to combat moisture:

  • Open your window as the weather allows. An opening of one inch is enough to circulate air.
  • Keep your door open when you are in your room and privacy is not a concern.
  • Keep drapes open during the day.
  • Ensure the fan icon is ON (not “auto”) on your air condition/heater fan coil unit
  • Hang towels to dry, and do not cover the fan.
  • If you have signs of growth in your room, please submit a work order

Please be assured that visible growth is not necessarily associated with health issues. If you have concerns for your well-being, please contact Student Health Service at 715-346-4646 to make an appointment for further evaluation.

UWSP Housing is committed to providing a safe, clean environment for our residence hall students. If you have additional questions, please contact your residence hall director.

You can submit a work order here: https://workrequest.uwsp.edu/

September 21, 2021 - SURVEY - Make the Halls More Inclusive!

UWSP Residential Living is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that provides a safe, accessible, and respectful community for all. With inclusivity at the forefront of what we do, we are working on a plan to expand our Gender Inclusive Restrooms in the Residence Halls.

Currently, traditional halls have two restroom facilities on each floor, one designated as male and the other as female. Hyer Hall restroom facilities are designated as male on the first and fourth floors, and female on the second and third floors. The Suites@201 features a three-part restroom with a toilet, shower, and vanity in each suite.

Gender Inclusive restrooms are renovated to provide private shower stalls that have locks on them.

Traditional Halls: On the second floor of Hansen, Knutzen, May Roach, Smith, Steiner, and Watson, one of the two bathrooms is designated as all gender, meaning that any identifying gender can use this restroom.

Please take a few minutes to provide some feedback and fill out our survey:
