Assignments

00:07: How do I view assignments as a student? 00:10: Access the assignment section through the menu. 00:13: In assignments, you can view all the assignments in your course. 00:17: By default assignments are grouped by date. 00:20: You can view assignments grouped according to their due dates. 00:24: Overdue assignments assignments and discussions that are passed the 00:28: due date are still available have not been submitted and have not been graded. 00:34: Upcoming assignments assignments discussions and quizzes 00:38: that have an upcoming due date. 00:41: Undated assignments assignments discussions and quizzes 00:45: that do not have a due date. 00:48: Past assignments assignments and discussions that are passed the due 00:52: date and either are not available have been submitted or have received a grade quizzes 00:56: that are past the due date. 01:00: To view assignments Group by type click the show by type button. 01:04: You can view assignments by assignment groups such as assignments homework 01:08: and papers. You can also see how much each grouping 01:13: will be worth in the final grade. 01:16: Each assignment also includes an icon which indicates the assignment type 01:20: discussion assignment or quiz. 01:24: Each assignment displays the assignment name any availability dates for the assignment 01:28: due date if any and the number of points the assignment is worth. 01:34: The first dates you may see are called availability dates. 01:37: Sometimes your instructor only wants you to submit an assignment during a specified 01:41: date range. So the available dates are the range of time that the assignment is accessible 01:46: to you. 01:48: If the assignment does not have a date listed the assignment is open. 01:51: You can submit the assignment at any time during your course. 01:56: If the assignment says available until date you can submit the assignment 02:00: until the specified date. 02:03: If the assignment says not available until date the assignment is locked 02:07: until the specified date. 02:10: If the assignment says closed the assignment cannot accept submissions. 02:15: The second set of dates are the due dates for each respective assignment. 02:19: Any assignments submitted after the due date or marked as late some 02:23: instructors May deduct points for late submissions. 02:26: Again, not all assignments may include a due date. 02:30: You can still submit late assignments before the available until date. 02:35: Please be aware that the due date may be before or on the available date. 02:40: Due dates also include a time if your instructor does not set a 02:44: due time the listed date displays. 02:46: The course is default due time. 02:49: You can search for an assignment by typing an assignment title or a keyword in the search 02:53: field. If your course includes multiple grading periods, 02:57: you can view assignments by grading period 03:01: To view the details of an assignment. You may want to review the assignment rubric. 03:55: For example an assignment may have a due date but may not list any other dates. 04:00: If you were to miss the due date, you could still submit the assignment for late credit 04:04: before the last day of the course. If the assignment does not have a due 04:08: date you can submit the assignment at any time before the last day of the course. 04:14: To submit your assignment click the start assignment button. 04:17: You can also submit a quiz or reply to a discussion. 04:21: When an assignment is open to you during availability dates, you can view all available 04:25: assignment information in addition to the specific dates. 04:28: The assignment is available to you. Availability dates may include 04:32: a first available date open date last available date Lochte 04:37: or closed or both dates to create an overall date range. 04:41: The due date may be before or on the last available date if one is set. 04:46: If you were to miss the assignment submission due date, you could still submit the assignment 04:50: until the last available date. Once the last date passes you 04:55: can no longer submit the assignment. 04:58: Your instructor May limit the number of submission attempts you are allotted for an assignment. 05:02: If your assignment has a limited number of submissions, you can view the number of submission 05:07: attempts you have made in the number of submission allowed for the assignment. 05:12: Once you have used all your submission attempts, the new attempt button displays 05:16: is disabled. 05:18: An assignment can be locked before an instructor wants it open or after a specific 05:22: date has passed after the due date. 05:24: When an assignment is locked you can view the rubric if any and 05:28: the assignment details. You can also view the date when the assignment 05:32: will be open for submissions if it has not been opened yet. 05:37: When an assignment is closed you can still view the rubric if any and 05:41: any existing submission details in the sidebar, but you can no longer view the 05:45: assignment details or submit resubmit the assignment. 05:49: You can also view the date. Discussions

00:07: How do I view discussions as a student? 00:10: In course navigation click the discussions link 00:14: Discussions are organized into three main areas. 00:18: Pinned discussions these are discussions that your instructor wants you to pay specific 00:22: attention to and appear at the top of the discussions page. 00:25: This section heading only displays if there are discussions within this section as designated 00:30: by your instructor. 00:32: Discussions these are current discussions within the course discussions 00:36: are ordered by most recent activity this section heading only displays 00:40: if there are discussions within this section. 00:44: Closed for comments these discussions have been manually closed for comments 00:48: or the discussion has passed the available from until date. 00:52: These are discussions that are only available in a read-only state and are ordered 00:56: by most recent activity this section section heading displays, 01:00: even if there are no discussions within this section. 01:04: Each discussion displays whether or not it is a graded discussion. 01:08: The name of the discussion and the date on which the last discussion reply was posted. 01:13: The due date if any 01:16: The number of unread total posts in the discussion 01:20: And whether or not you are subscribed to the discussion. 01:24: You can also view availability dates for individual discussions. 01:28: An unread icon next to a discussion indicates an unread discussion. 01:33: The number of unread total posts will not appear for group discussions and discussions 01:37: that have no discussion replies. 01:40: There will also be a peer-review icon if a graded discussion has been assigned peer 01:44: reviews. 01:46: The first dates you may see are the availability dates your instructor may use 01:50: availability dates to restrict discussion replies to a specified date range. 01:55: The availability dates are the range of time that the discussion is accessible to you. 01:59: Availability dates also appear on the assignments page for all discussions with a signed 02:04: availability dates. 02:06: If the discussion does not have a date listed the discussion is open. 02:09: You can reply to the discussion at any time during your course. 02:14: If the discussion says not available until date the discussion is locked 02:18: until the specified date. 02:21: If the discussion says available until date you can reply to the discussion 02:25: until the specified date. 02:28: If the discussion is in the closed for comment section the discussion cannot accept 02:32: submissions. To filter replies click the all drop-down menu. 04:04: You can filter by all replies or unread replies. 04:08: To sort replies by newest or oldest click the sort button. 04:13: To view threaded replies in a split-screen sidebar click the view split 04:17: screen button. 04:19: To view threaded replies all at once click the expand threads button. 04:24: You can collapse the threaded replies by clicking the collapse threads button. 04:29: To view threaded replies inline. Click the inline button. 04:33: If the discussion is an anonymous discussion a message displays noting that 04:37: your name and profile picture will be hidden from other course members. 04:42: The discussion topic section includes important information about the discussion including 04:46: the discussion title and description. 04:50: You can also view the name of the author user role labels for Tash and 04:54: teacher instructor roles the date and time. 04:56: The discussion was published due date the number of points possible and 05:01: number of replies. 05:04: To view the options menu for a discussion. Grades

00:07: How do I view my grades in a current course? 00:10: In global navigation click the courses link then click the name 00:14: of the course. 00:16: In course navigation click the grades link 00:20: From the grades page you can select the course for which you want to view grades. 00:24: By default grades are sorted chronologically by assignment due 00:28: date in the arranged by menu. You can also sort by module assignment 00:32: name or assignment group. To see the specified grades 00:36: click the apply button assignments that are not part of a module will 00:40: be shown at the end of the assignments list in alphabetical order. 00:44: However, if modules are assignment groups aren't used in your course, they 00:48: won't be included as sorting options. 00:52: You can view the name of the assignment the assignment due date the assignment 00:56: submission date the assignment status the score you earned and the 01:00: total point value of the assignment. You may also be able to view whether 01:04: the assignment includes scoring details comments or rubrics. 01:10: You may see various great icons in the score column indicating the type of assignment 01:14: you submitted. Late assignments display the late icon in the status column 02:33: of the gradebook. To view submission details for a late assignment click 02:37: the submission name. 02:47: Some assignments include a black warning icon which alerts you that points 02:51: earned from this assignment will not count toward your final grade. 02:54: You should still submit this assignment unless it has been excused by your instructor. 03:00: If there are comments in your assignment the assignment displays a comment icon. 03:04: To view comments click the comment icon if there are unread 03:08: comments an indicator is displayed once the comments are read the 03:13: indicator disappears. Comments are organized chronologically. 03:19: If there is feedback besides text comments such as media comments, click 03:23: the feedback icon to open the submission details and view the other feedback. 03:29: To close comments. Click the close link. 03:32: If you can view scoring details click the check mark icon. 03:36: You can view the grade distribution for the assignment and view the mean hi 03:40: low median upper quartile and lower quartile 03:44: scores. 03:46: The graphs horizontal line extends from 0 to the assignments highest possible 03:50: score 3 the white box extends from the lowest to the highest 03:54: student scores. Your score appears as a blue square on this 03:58: plot. You will only see scoring details if more than five 04:02: other students have submitted that assignment in the course. 04:05: If you do not see the scoring details then fewer than five students have submitted 04:10: the assignment. To close scoring details. 04:13: Click the close link 04:16: An assignment may also include a rubric icon which means the assignment included 04:20: a rubric for grading purposes. To view your results click 04:24: the icon view your score based on the rubric to close 04:28: the rubric click the close rubric link. 04:32: The grades page will list the assignment groups included in your course. 04:36: Assignment groups allow instructors to organize assignments discussions 04:40: and quizzes into groups and apply specific grading rules or weights to those 04:44: groups. You can view the percentage score for each group in the points. 04:48: You've earned versus the total points possible. 04:52: The great summary shows your total grade allows you to view any save what 04:56: if scores and allows you to show or hide all scoring details comments 05:00: and rubrics shown in the grades page. 05:03: Depending on the great calculation for your course your total grade May 05:07: display as a point value or as a percentage. 05:11: Your instructor May restrict you from viewing your total grade. 05:15: The current grade is calculated by adding up the graded assignments according to their 05:19: weight in the course grading scheme. This grade is calculated with the 05:23: calculate based only on graded assignments checkbox selected in the sidebar. 05:29: The total grade is calculated by adding all the assignments according to their weight 05:33: in the course grading scheme both graded and ungraded assignments. 05:37: To view the total grade deselect the sidebar check box the 05:41: grade at the top of the sidebar will reflect your total grade. 05:46: The sidebar shows the information about how your grades are calculated. 05:50: If your assignment groups are weighted, the sidebar will show the breakdown of weighted 05:55: assignment groups. 05:57: Assignment groups will always display as a percentage if your instructor allows 06:01: you to view total grades. You can see a breakdown in the points. 06:04: You've earned versus the total points possible. 06:08: If your course does not use assignment groups, your total grade can be displayed in 06:12: points or percentage. If your total grade is displayed in points, 06:16: you can view your overall grade percentage. 06:19: Again, your instructor May restrict you from viewing your total grade. 06:24: If your institution restricts viewing quantitative data, your total grade 06:28: is displayed using a grading scheme usually letter grades. 06:32: Again, your instructor May restrict you from viewing your total grade. 06:37: If you have more than one course you can use the course drop-down menu to view grades 06:41: in other courses.
