Environmental Health and Safety

​As part of the Risk Management team, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) provides guidance and assistance to ensure a safe and healthful environment for employees, students, and guests.​

As a state agency, safety initiatives are guided by the Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapter SPS 332​.  This law, by reference, incorporates the standards and regulations set forth by the Occupational Safety and Health ​Administration (OSHA).  ​

EHS provides a variety of services which includ​e:

  • ​Developing and implementing policies and programs
  • Administering employee training programs
  • Managing hazardous, infectious, and universal wastes
  • Compliance with environmental regulatory requirements
  • Administering injury/incident claims and safety review
  • Providing assistance and guidance for other EHS initiatives to ensure a safe and healthful workplace​
