Biological Safety
Biological safety is a disciplined approach to the protection of individuals, organisms and the environment from potentially harmful microorganisms and other biological agents. Biosafety is accomplished through the use of risk assessment and the adherence to specific work practices, protective equipment and exposure control.
Biological Safety Officer, Keith Turnquist, assists all faculty, staff, and students in observing safe laboratory practices for biological materials as prescribed by local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
This is accomplished through the coordination and collaboration of the following:
Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
Institutional Animal Care and Use Comittee (IACUC)
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
