Information Technology Units
Information Technology supports all aspects of technology at UWSP on the UW-Stevens Point campus,
UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield, and UW-Stevens Point at Wausau campuses.
Information Technology also provides support for three off-site research field stations within the
College of Natural Resources, and the Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility managed through the
College of Letters & Science/Biology program.
Information Technology Purchasing
Information Technology Purchasing orders all new hardware and software for UWSP, organizes the receipt and dispatch of ordered items, and conducts inventory and billing of purchases including hardware warranty repair transactions.
Information Technology Purchasing also provides purchasing consultation to project and grant programs.
Applications and Development
Applications and Development (App Dev) is responsible for analyzing, implementing, and maintaining UWSP administrative applications, developing customized applications, and integrating third party systems into existing campus systems.
App Dev works with administrative areas to deliver campus-wide decision support systems and services in a secure, web-based environment. App Dev also provides the technical implementation and support for the UWSP web and
Information Technology User Services provides direct support to UWSP students, faculty, and staff in their continued use of campus technologies and networked services. User Services includes the
Information Technology Service Desk,
Academic Technical Services, and
Information Technology Service Desk
IT Service Desk is UWSP's primary point of contact for help with computing and technology issues and service requests. Services available through the
Service Desk include equipment loan services and student desktop/device repair. The
IT Service Desk also manages and supports UWSP's public labs and reservable computer classrooms.
Academic Technical Services (ATS) contains the following sub-units:
The Campus Support Team (CST) members are support staff embedded throughout campus to provide both technical and curricular support.
CSTs may also provide institution-level support functions such as server administration or additional functions that support the specialized needs of their College's academic programs.
Distance Education Classroom support team supports the unique technologies utilized in DE classrooms, and provide hands-on training and support to presenters in the use of distance education classroom technology.
Media and Special Projects includes the
Academic Video unit which offers video creation, editing, and conversion services for academic use, and provides recording services and live streaming of campus events.
EndPoint Services is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and life-cycle management of UWSP computers, printers, and other hardware devices. EndPoint Services additionally provides advanced support to hardware repair issues forwarded from the
IT Service Desk and
College Support Team.
Technical Operations (TechOps) designs, implements, and supports the server and network infrastructure on the UWSP campuses, and maintains the security and integrity of UWSP's networked applications and services. The following units are within
Enterprise Device Management
Enterprise Device Management (EDM) develops and deploys the UWSP standard computer software load and manages distribution options for all other supported software.
EDM also provides third-tier hardware and software support for UWSP workstations (Mac and PC), printers, and other devices.
Information Security Office
Information Security Office (ISO) investigates computer system intrusions, ensures security compliance of UWSP's infrastructure and supported software, and promotes campus awareness of information security responsibilities within the UWSP community. The ISO works to ensure the secure availability, integrity, and confidentiality of all information used in university business.
Network & Infrastructure
Network & Infrastructure (N&I) manages and maintains the server and network infrastructure including the wireless services on the UWSP campuses.
Telephone Support Office
The Telephone Support Office provides quality, cost-effective telephone and voice messaging services and support to faculty, staff, and students on the UWSP campuses including enhanced 911 service, and directory services (campus, local and extended community). The
Telephone Support Office also offers
cellular services for UWSP business needs.
