​Peer Role
 ​Trained tutor who has taken the course in a prior semester.
 ​Trained SI Leader who has taken the course and regularly attends lectures again.
​What to expect in a session
 ​Review and practice content led by tutor during weekly sessions in a collaborative learning environment.
 ​Review and practice content led by SI leader based on lectures in a collaborative learning environment.
​Attendance ​No need to sign up in advance. Attendance is flexible, but consistency is best.
​
Cancellations​ ​Limited attendance may result in the cancellation of group sessions.
 ​SI sessions will not be cancelled unless a leader has a conflict.

​The data shows...
 ​Students who utilize TLC resources have a higher average GPA than those who do not.
 ​Students who regularly attend SI sessions receive higher course grades and stay in college and graduate in higher numbers than nonparticipants.

​Group Tutoring Cancellations

If sessions have less than 3 students per session for 3 weeks in a row, the session is canceled. Make the best use of this fantastic resource by coming early and often!

For Faculty: Interested in Having a Group Tutor?

The TLC hires and trains group tutors for STEM courses based on recommendations and interest from faculty. 

  • The TLC pays group tutors one hour to prepare for each weekly session and one hour to facilitate each weekly session.
  • Group tutors must regularly attend TLC training and keep accurate records of sessions.
  • The TLC hires group tutors one semester in advance
  • Faculty with group tutors must promote the service within their classes to ensure participation
  • Faculty interested in having a group tutor should complete this form​.
