Retired

A RETIRED parking permit may be requested by contacting the Parking Services office via email at Parking.Services.Office@uwsp.edu (you can use the link at the bottom of the page after "direct comments to"). If you do not have access to email, you can call 715-346-3900 to be added to the list.  Be sure to include your current mailing address in the email request, along with up to 2 vehicle license plates.  RETIRED permits are complimentary at this time.

Permits are virtual, so your LICENSE PLATE IS your PERMIT!  License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology is used to capture and read a vehicle license plate to confirm that the vehicle is registered and has permission to park in the designated lot(s) on campus.  Important:  Vehicle license plates must be unobstructed, affixed to the bumper, and displayed in view from the driving lane of a parking space.

Because of the success of the LPR program, permits no longer need to be renewed each year.  The only renewals necessary are for changes or additions to vehicles you drive to campus.  Simply send an email to Parking Services with the new/changed vehicle information.

Retired permits may be issued to individuals meeting the following criteria:

  • Retiree is eligible to receive WI Retirement System annuity payments for years of service
  • Retiree is at least 55 years of age
  • Retiree completed 10 years of service at UWSP
  • Retiree retired/separated from UWSP in good standing
  • Retiree is not currently employed* by UWSP or in paid status

Retired staff will have their work status verified by HR. The RETIRED permit is intended for "occasional" visits to campus, however, it is not meant for LIFE class attendance and/or student/work use. Permits are not transferable to another person or intended for student use.

The RETIRED permit is valid in lots E, R, S, T, and V. The permission is not valid in meters, fire zones, handicap stalls, reserved stalls, and/or limited zones.

*Retired faculty/staff returning in "work status" are not eligible for a RETIRED permit. These individuals may choose to participate in the annual priority parking assignment process and purchase a permit to park in a campus lot.
