Mission

Cornerstone Press provides experiential learning opportunities to students pursuing careers in writing, editing, and publishing, by acquiring and developing writers that inspire, interrogate, and inform; fostering collaboration with community, university, and industry partners; and preparing students for life beyond college.

Vision

To be a leading advocate for Midwestern and regional voices, to develop literary community through strategic growth, and to manage resources ethically through responsible business practices.

Statement on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Cornerstone Press is committed to empowering human art and human labor through our publishing program. Our covers are designed by students, staff, and artists, not AI. Our books are written by writers, not by AI. The use of AI as a tool for design and writing does not align with our Mission or Vision, and therefore will not be allowed as part of our publishing program.

Experiential Learning and Outcomes for Students

All books are produced in classes and internships offered by the Department of English. From editing and cover design, to media and sales, our undergraduate students get a chance to work in all the fields of professional publishing. The Cornerstone Press provides students with the unique opportunity to work within a professional, working literary press at the university level. Student staff work primarily in editorial, cover design, social media/marketing, and events management, as well as local sales and campus outreach.

Careers our graduates were prepared for and pursued after working with the Cornerstone Press.
