The famous Iceland Ring Road is a 1,322 km (820-mile) route, circumnavigating the country that connects most of the major towns and beautiful sites. It is a road trip renowned for its variety of scenery including waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes, mountain passes, deep fjords, and many of Iceland’s most iconic sites. Sue and Heiðdís (Heidi) will be guiding you on this 11 day adventure to the best stops along the way! This tour includes outdoor activities in breathtaking scenery, awe-inspiring geologic wonders, delicious Icelandic food and drink, and Icelandic culture and folklore.
This tour will hit the highlights of the Golden Circle, South Coast and Reykjavik but will also take you away from the throngs of tourists to the beautiful north and eastern parts of the island. A few highlights include: exploring numerous waterfalls including Dettifoss and Goðafoss, hiking in Fjaðrárgljúfur and Stuðlagil Canyons, soaking in the healing waters of the Forest Lagoon and local geothermal pools, fishing for cod just below the Arctic Circle (and eating it, too!), eating local fish, seafood, lamb and other Icelandic delicacies, and exploring beautiful Akureyri and Reykjavík.
