Have you ever tried to draw an animal from a photograph and felt you just couldn't get it quite right? Have you heard of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources's Snapshot Wisconsin Program? Would you like to learn more? Then this workshop is for you!

Snapshot Wisconsin is a is a partnership to monitor wildlife using a statewide network of volunteer-managed trail cameras. Photos of wildlife captured in the program are shared on Zooniverse, a crowd-sourcing website for community science programs. Anyone can visit the site and help classify photos at any time!

In this workshop, we will be accessing Snapshot Wisconsin Zooniverse and learning how to classify photos while looking for images to use for drawing reference.

We will work in black and gray, using graphite pencils. We will cover basic drawing techniques including how to capture correct angles and proportions and what materials to use. We will cover principles of value (light and dark) and cover the basics of animal anatomy for artists.

All materials will be provided. You will have a sketchbook, pencils, and eraser to take home with you.

She earned both her Masters of Natural Resources (Wildlife Ecology) and a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Ecology at UW-Stevens Point. Aside from drawing and painting, Jennifer enjoys birding, photographing wildlife, hiking, and spending time with her husband and dog.
