Teaching and Research on CNR Properties
To minimize conflict between users and to facilitate long-term collection of data, a notification and reporting system has been instituted for education, research, and work projects conducted on all University of Wisconsin Stevens Point properties, including the three College of Natural Resources (CNR) Field Stations (Central Wisconsin Environmental Station, Schmeeckle Reserve, and Treehaven).
Notification Procedures
Simply fill out a Teaching and Research Use Form at least 7 days before the event – the more lead time you provide, the better chance we can coordinate with you. A separate form needs to be on file for Semester 1, Semester 2, and the Summer Session. We will review your class or project plans in order to minimize conflict and to coordinate with other programs/activities. We will contact you if more information is needed, and send you a confirmation via e-mail.
The Primary Applicant is responsible for sending a summary of the project or a final report of research to the respective Site Manager by the project ending date. This information may be placed on our website and shared with other UW-Stevens Point faculty/staff, students, or the general public.
Please specify on your application if you will be placing equipment or flagging on the property, collecting specimens, or if you need to conduct activities normally prohibited (motorized access, evening/overnight use, etc.). You will be sent a permit via e-mail with a unique Permit ID Number. Special permission is only applied to the specific dates, times, and activities listed on your permit. It is expected that all equipment, supplies, and personnel resources required for your research/project will be provided by you and your team.
Be sure that this Permit ID Number is clearly visible on all equipment before placing on the property (i.e. traps, tarps, boxes, flagging, etc.). Any equipment or flagging without a Permit ID Number will be removed as a function of routine maintenance. All equipment and flagging must be removed from the property by the end of your project.
