Inclusive Teaching Fellows Program

UWSP mug and books

The Inclusive Teaching Fellows Program at UW-Stevens Point is intended to advance the university's commitment to the understanding of individual, social and group differences and to ensure that this understanding is integrated into every aspect of the institution.

Inclusive Teaching Fellows play a vital role in helping to foster this understanding through their work in a university environment and with students and colleagues who are committed to creating learning environments characterized by the pursuit of equity, diversity, and inclusive excellence.

Inclusive Teaching Fellows will serve as lecturers in the classroom and take part in a rigorous professional development experience that includes mentoring in their respective academic departments, participation in shared governance, and opportunities to engage students and the broader community. Teaching responsibilities will range from half-to three-quarter time during the nine-month academic year, depending on completion of the Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree.

Engagement and Duration

The two-year program of professional development and support activities will be managed by CITL, though they will rely heavily on support and collaboration from campus partners including faculty and staff. In particular, departments will need to provide a faculty mentor to the fellows, and the SPACADA and/or college advising will need to provide advising training and responsibilities to the fellows.

Each fellow will meet individually with the Director of CITL to complete a professional development plan for their two years at UWSP. This plan will identify faculty mentors and other points of contact and involvement with which the fellow will need to engage based on their individual interests and needs.

See the sample Professional Development Curriculum. Each fellow will meet individually with the CITL director regularly to ensure the professional development plan remains on track and/or is modified appropriately.

Appointment Date: TBD

This is a 9-month, Instructional Academic Staff appointment. Salary is commensuate with qualifications and experience.

Completion of the program makes fellows eligible for conversion to tenure-track faculty positions, pending available position and budget as well as formal recommendation from the
academic department.
