Strategic Plan for Teaching & Learning Engagement

Following the very difficult decision in 2012 to discontinue funding for the Center for Academic Excellence and Student Engagement (CAESE), the group of faculty and staff, formerly known as the CAESE Advisory Council, engaged in reflective and deliberate discussions about the future of teaching and learning at UW-Stevens Point. Based on these conversations, this group of faculty and staff took on the new challenge of crafting a comprehensive strategic plan for teaching and learning. This is not a strategic plan for a teaching center; rather, this is a strategic plan for teaching and learning in general.

So, during the 2012-2013 academic year, this group of faculty and staff worked carefully to develop the framework for a strategic plan that focused on the role that teaching and learning plays on campus. The group solicited feedback from campus in the form of an online, open-ended survey and several open forums. The goal was to draft a plan that captures our common educational values and articulates a shared vision for teaching and learning. Likewise, the strategic plan identifies important ways that we can support and sustain the excellent work already being done on campus, as well as develop new opportunities for growth and change.

A first draft of the Strategic Plan for Teaching and Learning Engagement was created in May 2013 and shared with the Academic Affairs Committee during Fall 2013. Based on feedback and suggestions from members of the Academic Affairs Committee and input from others across campus, a second draft of the Strategic Plan for Teaching and Learning Engagement has been crafted and is ready for public dissemination.

Revised Draft (Spring 2014)
