Timpanist to visit UW-Stevens Point
A principal timpanist for the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and Winston-Salem Symphony Orchestra will work with students and faculty members at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point as part of a guest artist residency on Thursday, April 12.
Peter Zlotnick will hold a timpani master class with Department of Music students at 5 p.m. in Room 240 of the Noel Fine Arts Center, sharing his expertise as a percussion instructor at Catawba College and Music Center of Greensboro, N.C., as well as education manager for the Greensboro Symphony.
At 8 p.m. Amphion Percussion, a duo with Zlotnick and Sean Connors, assistant professor of percussion at UW-Stevens Point, will perform in Room 221 of the Noel Fine Arts Center. The concert will include music from Radiohead, Steve Reich, Gyorgy Ligeti, Connors, Ivan Trevino, Dave Hollinden and Peter Klatzow.
Both the master class and the performance are free and open to the public.
