‘World AIDS Day’ to be marked at UW-Stevens Point
A student volunteer organization at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is sponsoring a World AIDS Day event in Stevens Point on Thursday, Dec. 1.
The organization, Lead by Example, will hold an Awareness Walk at UW-Stevens Point beginning at 5:30 p.m. Those wanting to join should meet in Room 116 of the College of Professional Studies Building. Participants will circle the campus and return to CPS Room 116 at 6 p.m., followed by refreshments, a presentation by the guest speaker and AIDS researcher Matt Reynolds, and a question-and-answer session.
Reynolds, an assistant scientist at UW-Madison, has been working on AIDS-related research for more than nine years. Currently he is researching SIV infections in rhesus macaques with the goal of using this knowledge to develop improved HIV vaccines. He earned his undergraduate and doctorate degrees from UW-Madison.
