UW-Stevens Point, MSTC collaborate on ‘Visions of War’ series
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) are collaborating on a series of free public events that highlight the experiences of local veterans.
The "Visions of War" series will be held Monday, Nov. 7, through Sunday, Dec. 4, with veterans who served in World War II, the Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, Iraq War and Afghanistan War sharing their experiences of war through art, film, poetry and discussion.
UW-Stevens Point’s Eighth Annual University Evening is also a part of this series. Receptions will follow each of the following events:
- Monday, Nov. 7 – “Vets Talk” panel discussion

Nov. 11–Dec. 4 – “Visions of War: Artists as Soldiers/Soldiers as Artists”

Distinguished faculty lecture by Professor Susan Brewer of the History Department

Friday, Nov. 18 – Film screenings of “Poster Girl” and “Iraq Paper Scissors”
Discussion with Sara Nesson, director of both films, and Robyn Murray, the veteran featured in “Poster Girl,” an Academy Award-nominated documentary,

Tuesday, Nov. 22 – Artist Talk
Aaron Hughes, artist and Iraq War veteran. His work is featured in the Carlsten Gallery exhibit

Wrap-up discussion with Vets Talk panel, featuring firsthand accounts of war and coming home
