Los Angeles-based vocal jazz group m-pact will showcase its talents at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau's 6th Annual Vocal Jazz Festival, April 11-12.

During the two-day festival, m-pact will work with UW-Stevens Point at Wausau choirs and 10 high school and college choral groups from around the state. The group will also give a public concert at 7 p.m., Friday, April 12, in the James F. Veninga Theater, located in the UW Center for Civic Engagement, 625 Stewart Ave., Wausau.

"Never before has the vocal jazz festival welcomed such internationally recognized artists," said Timothy Buchholz, assistant professor of music at UW-Stevens Point at Wausau. "Knowing they are also gifted educators makes them the perfect choice for our festival."

Hailed as "one of the best pop-jazz vocal groups in the world" by the San Francisco Chronicle, m-pact is respected worldwide as a trailblazer in the realm of vocal music. The group has performed with pop superstars Sheryl Crow, Boyz II Men, Natasha Beddingfield and Ray Charles, as well as with jazz legends Natalie Cole, Bobby McFerrin and the Maynard Ferguson Big Band.

General admission tickets for the April 12 concert are $15. UW-Stevens Point students may attend for free.
