Enjoy a meal while learning about the environment through the Dinner and a Speaker Series at Treehaven, a field station of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Offered January through April, the 14th year of the series will be held at the main building of the 1,400-acre natural resources education, conference and research center located at W2540 Pickerel Creek Road, Tomahawk. Dinner is offered at 6 p.m. and the speaker at 7 p.m. The cost is $17 per person, and includes one of three entrée choices, sides and dessert.

- Bobcats in the Northwoods – Jan. 7, 2020 - Wisconsin woodlands support an estimated 5,000 bobcats statewide. Discover the habits of these elusive native cats and learn about their success story as a comeback species. Nathan Roberts is a furbearer research scientist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources who has an extensive research background working with bobcats in the Northwoods.
- Tapped Maple Syrup 101 – Jan. 30, 2020 - Learn the maple syrup process from forest to bottle and the unique approach Tapped Maple Syrup takes in producing and marketing their maple syrup. Jeremy Solin, who co-owns Tapped Maple Syrup with his wife Abi, has been making maple syrup his entire life on land that's been in his family for five generations. Their business focuses on value-added maple syrup products and events. Samples will be provided.
- Natural Connections of the Northwoods – Feb. 18, 2020 - Using science to tell stories, naturalist and author Emily Stone wields magic that makes the whole world feel alive. Her books, "Natural Connections: Exploring Northwoods Nature through Science and Your Senses," and "Natural Connection 2: Dreaming of an Elfin Skimmer," will be available for sale and signing after the talk.
- Wind, Water, and Fire in the Boundary Waters – March 10, 2020 - The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) is over one million acres in size and is one of the most visited wilderness areas in the United States. Discover the history of fire and its impacts on the BWCAW with our Treehaven Resident Ecologist Elias Anoszko. He will also explore what these events can tell us about the future of the BWCAW.
- Walleye of Wisconsin – March 26, 2020 - Join us for a night of fish stories and science with Dan Isermann, the unit leader of the Wisconsin Cooperative Fishery Research Unit and professor of fisheries at UW-Stevens Point. Isermann will highlight his research on the movement patterns and habitats of Wisconsin's walleyes, including those found in the Northwoods.
- The Future of Solar Energy – April 7, 2020 - North Wind Solar will lead an informative and open conversation for you to learn about solar power, a renewable energy revolution. The team will discuss the basics of a photo-voltaic electric solar system and share what the project costs, benefits and incentives are for going solar in your home or business.
