An award-winning
student soloist will perform at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
Symphony Orchestra’s concert on Wednesday, March 2.
The concert will
be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center, featuring
Anja Pustaver, winner of the 2016 Alice Peet Faust Concerto Competition. A
sophomore soprano voice major from Waunakee, she will sing “Quando men vo” from
Puccini’s “La Bohéme.”
The concert also will
include Rossini’s “Overture to William Tell,” Mascagni’s “Intermezzo from
Cavelleria rusticana” Walton’s “Two Pieces for Strings from Henry V” and
Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio Espagnol, Op. 34.”
The
orchestra is led by Professor Patrick Miles, director of orchestral activities
at UW-Stevens Point. Students from any major audition to become members.
A part of the Music Department Scholarship
Series, the concert is $8.25 for the public, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25
for youth and students. Tickets are free the day of the concert for UW-Stevens
