With a theme on "Population Dynamics," the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Center for the Small City will host the 22nd Conference on the Small City and Regional Community Oct. 16-17.
The conference will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, with Sarah Kemp of the Applied Population Laboratory at UW-Madison giving the keynote address, "Wisconsin's Demographic Changes: The Impact on Schools and their Communities." It will be held in Room 101 of the Chemistry Biology Building, 2101 4th Ave, Stevens Point.
A variety of sessions will be offered Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. in the Dreyfus University Center. Topics include issues for small cities and communities, including non-profit organizations, health care, elections, ethnic diversity, local governance, sustainability, poverty and others.
Those invited to attend include officials, professionals, researchers, citizens and others interested in public participation and civic advancement in small cities and towns. Registration is $35 for general admission. UW-Stevens Point faculty, staff and students may attend free of charge.
