Swimming classes for children are available this fall
through the Special Needs Aquatic Program at the University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The classes are for young children of all abilities
accompanied by a parent or guardian. Goals are for children to have an initial
positive water experience, learn safety skills in and around water, and just
have fun.
Five weeks of class sessions will be held the Tuesdays
of Sept. 15, 22 and 29, Oct. 6 and 13 or Wednesdays, Sept. 16, 23 and 30, Oct.
7 and 14. During both sessions, classes for infants and toddlers, ages six
months to three years, will be held at 5:45 p.m. and preschool classes for
toddlers, ages 3 to 5, will be held at 6:20 p.m.
The 30-minute classes are held in the therapeutic pool
in the UW-Stevens Point Health Enhancement Center, adjacent to the Quandt
Fieldhouse on Fourth Avenue. All are led by a certified water safety
instructor.
Cost is $35 for these classes. Early registration is
advised, as program space is limited. For registration and more information,
call 715-346-2706.
