Photography courses offered through UW-Stevens Point
Improve your digital photography skills through two courses offered at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point through the Continuing Education program.
“Digital SLR Photography 101” will be offered on Tuesdays, April 17–May 15, from 6–8 p.m. Offered to beginning teen or adult photographers, the course will cover basic and advanced camera functions, photographic composition, touch up editing and organizing images on a computer. A class field trip on Saturday, May 12, will give students the opportunity to apply new skills. The course costs $89.
“Digital Flash Photography” will be offered on Mondays, April 9–May 14, from 6–8 p.m. This course, also for teens and adults, is for advanced SLR camera users and covers flash fundamentals, automatic flash photography (TTL), manual flash photography, the use of a hotshoe flash (speedlite) and using flash on and off camera. Those attending the class should have an understanding of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, metering modes and manual mode. Students should also have an SLR camera with a flash hotshoe and manual mode (program, aperture priority and shutter priority) and a speedlite for in-class photography and assignments. The cost is $89.
Both courses will be taught by Spyros Heniadis, a Wisconsin Rapids resident who has been teaching photography for six years and studying photography for over a decade.
