If you're among fans who used to park in Lot X for University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Athletics events, you probably know a new Chemistry-Biology Building is under construction in that space.
Where can you park? You have several options. A number of changes were made in recent years in anticipation of Lot X no longer being available.
Lot T, just north of that space, is the closest. At Reserve Street and Fourth Avenue, this lot is behind the Newman Center. Much of it was converted from long-term student parking to metered and day-permit parking, opening 213 spaces for free parking for sports and other night-time activities.
In addition, a portion of Lot Q closest to campus buildings was also converted to day parking. An additional 184 spaces (accessible from Illinois Avenue access) are available for evening and weekend events. The net increase of evening parking because of permit parking changes is 302 spaces. Lot X had 340 spaces.
Other parking options include Lot R along Portage Street and the new Lot Y south of the fire station between Division and Isadore. With 75 additional spaces in Lot Y, evening parking availability on campus has increased to 377 spaces overall.
