2/18/2020

Celebrate the extra day on the calendar this year by leaping into frog-themed activities at the Museum of Natural History at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The "Leap into Leap Day" event will be held for all ages from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 29, at the museum on the first floor of Albertson Hall, 900 Reserve St., Stevens Point, and at the UW-Stevens Point Allen F. Blocher Planetarium on the second floor of the Science Building, 2001 Fourth Ave., Stevens Point. All activities are free and open to the public.

Enjoy a frog scavenger hunt, origami frog and lilypad bullseye crafts, Leap Day trivia, Frog Quest, dorm door decals, "One Leap for Frog Kind" game and live frogs from the UW-Stevens Point Herpetology Society.

At 11 a.m., join a special presentation of "Celebrating a Special Day in Our Calendar…A Leap Across Time," at the planetarium. This presentation will explain why there are leap years, how they are calculated, who invented them and the science behind leap seconds. Seating is limited and is first-come, first-served.
