Share experiences and discover new interests through the Learning is ForEver (LIFE) program offered through the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Geared for adults age 55 and older, the LIFE program is offering nearly 80 workshops, lectures and tours between January and May 2017. Membership costs $75 annually, which entitles participants to all the courses they'd like to attend that year. Two special trips have additional fees. First-time participants who join after Jan. 1, 2017, are members until June 30, 2018.
This spring's programs include topics on health, history, conservation, technology, music, travel, sports, social issues, theatre, art, politics, education, film, current events and more. Spring trips include an ecology presentation at Treehaven Field Station in Tomahawk and a canoeing trip down the Wisconsin River north of Rhinelander.
LIFE was founded at UW-Stevens Point in 2001 and has more than 350 members. A volunteer committee plans the curriculum presented by former and current UW-Stevens Point faculty and staff, local experts and other speakers. Past field trips have included travel to the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, the Overture Center in Madison and various destinations in Milwaukee, the Fox Valley, Treehaven and the International Crane Foundation.
