UW-Stevens Point alumnus finds success as musician

Jens Kramer, a 2003 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point music program, took the leap and moved from Stevens Point to New York City after graduation.

He has found great success there as a professional musician, most recently featured on tour with Debbie Gibson and Tiffany on their “Journey Through the 80’s” tour.

“During my Pointer years, I always valued classical music, but loved nonclassical music such as pop, rock, country, Broadway, etc.,” Kramer said.

Other career highlights include performances as part of the international tour of the Broadway show “Johnny Cash: Ring of Fire,” “Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy,” ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “The View,” musical direction for MTV’s “Rockband Live!” and CBS’s “Survivor Live!”

“I’d like to thank Dr. Charles Young (UW-Stevens Point Department of Music) for always encouraging me to find my own way. It is because of Dr. Young’s inspiration to explore creativity in writing, improvisation and music theory that this has all been possible.”
