A new jazz composition by a recent University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point alumnus will make its world debut during the university’s Jazz Ensemble concert Tuesday, Dec. 8.
The music begins at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center. The Jazz Ensemble, directed by Professor Mathew Buchman, will premiere “Ghost Ship” by Matthew Osowski, a May 2014 graduate from Marshfield. The piece will feature the vocals of Natalie Trumm, a voice major from Madison.
The Jazz Ensemble will also perform “Evidence” by Thelonious Monk, “Quietude” by Thad Jones, “Rhyme” by David Springfield, “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat” by Charles Mingus and “Mel” by Jim McNeely with Adam Hatton, a jazz studies major from Kaukauna, on drums.
The event is part of the Music Department Scholarship Series. Tickets are $8.25 for adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for students and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D.
