An Emmy Award-winning television writer and producer of popular shows such as "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" and "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern" will give a free presentation on American food systems and television at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point this month.

Thomas G. Lemmer will present "American Food: A screening and discussion about food systems, television, immigration and sustainability" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, in Room 333 of the Communication Arts Center, 1101 Reserve St., Stevens Point. It is free and open to the public.

Lemmer will screen excerpts from his work on multiple shows and talk about the work of a television producer and the implications of food programs in media. He will also speak with students in media courses the following day.

Lemmer has also worked with Zimmern on the documentary series "What's Eating America" and "The Zimmern List," which won a 2020 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program. He currently is the producer of "Zoe Bakes" and produced the series "Crash Test World" in 2021.

The event, sponsored by the College of Fine Arts and Communication's School of Design and Communication, is funded by the Lee Sherman Dreyfus Speaker Series Endowment. Established by the late Lee and Joyce Dreyfus, the series offers students the opportunity to hear outstanding and inspiring speakers. Dreyfus was chancellor at UW-Stevens Point from 1967-1977 before serving as Wisconsin's governor.
