10/24/2019

A longstanding program that provides full scholarships, internships and other opportunities to students of color who attend the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point was honored Thursday in Madison.

The Noel Compass Scholar Program at UW-Stevens Point received the 2019 Ann Lydecker Educational Diversity Award from the State Council on Affirmative Action as part of the 20th Annual Diversity Awards. Honorees were recognized at the Wisconsin State Capitol Assembly Chambers.

The scholarship, established in 1996 by John and Patty Noel of Stevens Point, gives proactive high school minority students an opportunity for valuable education and work experience. Through scholarship, internship, mentorship, fellowship and leadership, the students adapt to university life and prepare for successful careers.
