Communicative Disorders to mark 50 years at UW-Stevens Point

The School of Communicative Disorders at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will mark its 50th anniversary with a reunion weekend on Friday and Saturday, May 4–5.

The on-campus event will celebrate the past, present and future accomplishments of the students, alumni, faculty and staff members who have created a foundation for hundreds of successful speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

The weekend will include the annual student awards reception, a former faculty and staff dinner and an open house with a “Then and Now” tour and free time for alumni to revisit favorite locations throughout campus and Stevens Point. The reunion culminates on Saturday, May 5, with a banquet featuring highlights from the Communicative Disorders international program.

“We look forward to celebrating the outstanding program Communicative Disorders was, is and continues to be as we graduate exceptional speech-language pathologists and audiologists,” says Gary Cumley, associate dean and chair of the School of Communicative Disorders.

The School of Communicative Disorders, founded in 1962 as the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at Central State College, offers a bachelor’s and master's degree in speech-language pathology. A Clinical Doctorate Degree in Audiology is also available through a partnership with UW-Madison.
