Enjoy choral music of the holiday season as voices of the Combined Choirs blend in concert at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Friday, Dec. 7.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall at the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point, under the direction of Lecturer Duane Karna, interim director of choral activities in the Department of Music.
The Choral Union will perform "O Come, O Come Emmanuel," "Lo! How a Rose E'er Blooming," "There Shall a Star from Jacob Shine Forth," "What Sweeter Music," "Still, Still, Still," "Blow, Blow, thou Winter Wind" and "Go Tell it on the Mountain." Priscilla Kite will accompany on piano.
The men of the Concert Choir and Choral Union will perform "Betelehemu." The Women's Choir will perform "Ave Maria" and "Sleigh Ride," with piano accompaniment by Jueying Li and Yifan Ning. The Combined Women's Choir will perform "Go Where I Send Thee!" featuring student conductor Nicole Marek and student Kathleen Hussey on piano.
The Concert Choir will sing "O Magnum Mysterium" by Victoria, "A Spotless Rose" by Herbert Howells and featuring baritone Jaymes Gayhart, "The Three Kings" by Peter Cornelius and featuring Associate Professor Matthew Markham and "Hodie Christus Natus Est" by Jan Sweelinck.
The concert will close with the Combined Concert Choir, Choral Union and Women's Choir performing "Still, Still Night" and "O Magnum Mysterium."
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $5 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out.
