UW-Stevens Point choirs present fall concert

Three choirs will present their annual Fall Collage concert at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center.

 The Women’s Choir will perform “Herbstlied” by Felix Mendelssohn, “Fire” by Mary Goetze, “Al Shlosha d'Varim” by Allen Naplan and “In You I Found” by Laura Farnell. The choir is conducted by Catherine Wilson, assistant professor and coordinator of music education. 

The Concert Choir will perform choral dances from “Gloriana” by Benjamin Britten and “The Mourner’s Kaddish” by Alaric Coussons, a senior music major. The piece won the Music Department’s Student Composition Contest. Accompanying the choir will be Kristen Pfluger, harp, and cellists Danny Janik and Emily Thiele. 

The Choral Union will sing “Frostiana” by Randall Thompson, a song of seven poems by Robert Frost. The Concert Choir and Choral Union are conducted by Lucinda Thayer, professor of music and director of choral activities. 

Tickets are $8.25 for adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for students and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. Tickets also may be purchased at the door if available.
