A variety of music, from traditional songs to blockbuster movie themes, will be performed at a concert of the Campus Band and Campus Orchestra at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Monday, Dec. 2.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall at the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point. The Campus Orchestra is directed by Anna Cromwell, assistant professor of violin and viola, and the Campus Band is directed by Patrick Lawrence, associate professor of low brass and instrumental music education.
The orchestra will perform a traditional "Gaelic Trilogy," "Celtic Roots" by Soon Hee Newbold and conducted by student Miranda Friedrich, "Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2" by Frédérick Chopin, "Orchestral Suite No. 2 BMV 1067: Badinerie" by Johann Sebastian Bach, "Theme from Jurassic Park" by John Williams and music from "The Avengers" by Alan Silvestri.
The band will perform "Knights of Dunvegan" by Richard Meyer, "On A Hymnsong of Philip Bliss" by David Holsinger, "Peregrin: A Traveler's Tale" by Doug Akey, the Isreali anthem "Hatikvah" and "Fanfare for the Third Planet" by Richard Saucedo.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out.
