The
Campus and Concert bands at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will
welcome spring with a collection of “Serenades, Hymns and Airs” in concert on
Tuesday, April 28.
Held
at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall at the Noel Fine Arts Center, the concert will
be conducted by Music Department faculty members Jonathan Caldwell, interim
director of bands, and Assistant Professor Patrick Lawrence as well as
apprentice conductor Michelle Pehler, a senior music education major from
Fountain City.
The
Campus Band will perform Roger Cichy’s “Fanfare for a Festive Day,” Michael
Oare’s “Pathways,” Eliot del Borgo’s arrangement for the Israeli national
anthem “Hatikvah,” and John Klohr’s “The Billboard March.”
The
Concert Band will present Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Flourish for Wind Band,”
Robert Spittal’s “Pacem: A Hymn for Peace,” Daniel Bukvich’s Symphony No. 1 “In
Memoriam, Dresden, Germany, 1945,” Frank Erickson’s “Air for Band,” Frank
Ticheli’s “Simple Gifts: Four Shaker Songs,” Derek Bourgeois’ “Serenade” and
Dana Wilson’s “Sang!”
The
event is part of the Music Department Scholarship Series. Tickets are $8.25 for
adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for students and free the day of the
concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. Tickets are available at the
