Two University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point ensembles, the Campus Band and Wind Symphony Band, will join in concert on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point.
The Campus Band will feature two student apprentice conductors, Kayla Wenos for "A Child's Lullaby" by Robert Sheldon, and Jesse Frozene for "Redemption" by Rossano Galante. The band will also perform "Highbridge Excursions" by Mark Williams, "Through Darkened Sleepy Hollow" by Eric Morales and "March of the Irish Guard" by James Ployhar. The band is directed by Patrick Lawrence, associate professor of low brass and music education.
The Wind Symphony Band will perform with the theme "Rule, Britania," with music by British composers or works connected to Great Britain. Pieces will include "Sea Songs" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, "Three London Miniatures" by Mark Camphouse and conducted by student Taylor Schmidt, and the multi-movement work "Gallimaufry" by Guy Woolfenden and inspired by Shakespeare's play "Henry IV." The band is directed Michael Butler, assistant professor of music and director of bands.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $5 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out.
