Campus Band, Orchestra to perform together at UW-Stevens Point

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Campus Band and Campus Orchestra will perform together in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center.

The Campus Band will perform "Fanfare of the Bells" by Mark Lortz, "Encanto" by Robert Smith and conducted by music student Corey Landon of Port Washington, "Communion" by Carl Strommen and "Americans We" by Henry Fillmore. The band is directed by Associate Professor of Music Patrick Lawrence.

The Campus Orchestra will present Violin Concert in B minor by Oscar Rieding, featuring violin student Teresita Marchel of Junction City. The group will also perform works by Joseph Strauss, Gabriel Faure, Shafuk Alujolu and David Cameron. The orchestra is directed by Music Professor Steven Bjella.

Both the Campus Band and Campus Orchestra are made up by student instrumentalists with majors outside of the Music Department.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out. Tickets also may be purchased at the door if available. Proceeds benefit student scholarships.
