Camp COFAC offers musical exploration this summer
A week of musical exploration, fun activities and lasting memories will be offered for high school students this summer through the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Camp COFAC-Music is offered to students entering grades 9–12 including graduating seniors, and will be held Sunday, June 24, through Saturday, June 30. The camp gives students an immersion experience by providing concentrated study on their primary instrument, voice or in composition. Campers select their “major” for the week and attend daily classes, warm-up exercises, group lessons, ensembles, practice sessions and workshops. This is the only music camp in the state in which resident university faculty members instruct all the classes. The week culminates in a celebratory concert on Saturday, June 30, showcasing all the students’ hard work for family and guests.
The goal of Camp COFAC-Music is to nurture young musicians through discovery, the enhancement of their knowledge of music, and hands-on activities, while fostering confidence and enthusiasm. Camp COFAC also provides opportunities for campers to develop long-lasting friendships and learn more about all the opportunities for further learning available at UW-Stevens Point.
The fee for Camp COFAC-Music is $525, which includes all classes, sheet music, evening activities, meals and lodging. A commuter option that includes all classes and lunches is $399. Registration is now open and early registration is strongly advised. All registrants are eligible for a discount from the regular price if submitted prior to May 31. A limited number of scholarships from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and COFAC are available to qualified students.
