The
community is invited to a briefing by Chancellor Bernie L Patterson on the
effects of the state budget reductions at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point. It will be held at 6 p.m. Monday,
May 16 in the Alumni Room of the Dreyfus University Center.
This
event is open to the public as well as the campus community. The chancellor has
provided regular updates to faculty, staff members, students, area legislators,
business leaders and UW-Stevens Point boards. The May 16 presentation will provide
another venue to share information on how the $6.5 million state budget cut in
the current 2015-17 biennium has affected UW-Stevens Point.
Patterson
will detail the number of positions, programs and support services eliminated.
He will explain how these reductions have affected UW-Stevens Point’s ability
to effectively achieve institutional goals and student success. Ample time will
be available for questions from those attending.
“Because
our campus and community are so closely connected, we want to keep our friends,
neighbors and area leaders informed about the short- and long-term impacts of
the losses resulting from this sizable cut,” Patterson said. “We need to invest
in our future.”
