Soprano Susan Bender, a professor of voice, will perform in concert this month at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The performance will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point.
Bender will perform Johann Sebastian Bach's 202, a wedding cantata for a solo soprano. Featured on this piece will be Stacey Berk on oboe, Steve Bjella and Amy Culbreath on violin, Mary Moran on viola, Lawrence Leviton on cello and David Richardson on harpsichord.
Bender will also sing "Ariettes oubliées" (Forgotten Airs) by Claude Debussy with poetry by Paul Verlaine, and "Knoxville: Summer of 1915" by Samuel Barber with text by James Agee. These two works will feature Richardson on piano.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $5 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out.
