Graduating seniors exhibit in Carlsten Gallery at UW-Stevens Point

The final student art exhibits of graduating seniors at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will be on display in two groups at the Carlsten Gallery in the Noel Fine Arts Center.

The first 2012 Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Exhibition show will be held through May 2, followed by the second May 6–13. A reception will be held on Sunday, May 6, from 2–4 p.m., with the student artists in attendance.

“The BFA Senior Exhibition gives the students the chance to plan, promote and show their work as a capstone experience in the program,” said Art and Design Professor Bob Erickson, who worked with the students. “Many of these students will go on to do graduate work or even work as professionals in the art world, so experiences such as this will be critical to their future success.”

Student artists in the first show include Jayne Arnold, Lodi; Jenny Haniver, Stevens Point; Stephanie Jones, Wausau; Angela Leopold, Park Falls; Molly Poulter, Princeton; and Jennie Wood, Stevens Point. The second group includes Kelly Jelinek, Kiel; Max Muraski, Sparta; Rachel Peeters, Waupaca; Karolina Romanowska, Wisconsin Dells; Karl Schutz, Washington Island; and Meng Vang, Ringle.

The Carlsten Gallery is free and open to the public Monday–Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours on Thursday from 7–9 p.m. The gallery is also open weekends from 1 to 4p.m. For more information about the Department of Art & Design and the Carlsten Gallery, please visit www.uwsp.edu/art-design.
