Arts Bash 2020, ‘Spectacle,’ offers night of creativity, food and fun
1/9/2020

This February, celebrate creativity in the visual arts, design, dance and theater while raising funds for student scholarships and arts programs at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Arts Bash 2020, “Spectacle,” will be held at 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the UW-Stevens Point Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage Street. Expressive attire is encouraged. Headlining the event is Nick Reising, a 2013 theatre design and technology and business alumnus who is the director of development for the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. Dance Professor Jeannie Hill will be the emcee.

“During my time at UW-Stevens Point, I learned the performing arts can be a catalyst to inspire change, create and transport us to new worlds and achieve so much as a team,” said Reising (right), honored as one of 15 outstanding young professionals in the Fox Cities in 2018. “UW-Stevens Point ignited my passion and provided me the tools to succeed. I believe that all should have the opportunity to dream, explore and experience the power of the performing arts.”

The evening will include theatre and dance performances, a wearable art runway show, a sale of artwork by students and community members at the Edna Carlsten Gallery, scholarship giving tree, food, drinks and cash bar. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door or $120 for a bundle of four for the public. UW-Stevens Point students with university I.D. may attend for $20.

A “Superstar Evening” preview party will be held 5:30-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31. It begins with a preview and sale of artwork at the Carlsten Gallery, followed by dinner with signature food and drinks at 7 p.m. at Ruby Café. Attendees will receive a limited edition print by student artist Casey Bernado, enjoy live music by Dave Becker and Jack Hurrish and hear how Arts Bash Scholarships impact students. Preview party tickets are $100, with limited seating.

Tickets are available at the UW-Stevens Point Information and Tickets Office in the Dreyfus University Center concourse, at 715-346-4100 or online at http://tickets.uwsp.edu.

The primary fundraiser for the Departments of Theatre and Dance and Art and Design, Arts Bash has raised more than $250,000 for student scholarships and programs since its inception in 2003.
