MEDIA ADVISORY:  Printmaker Amos Kennedy Jr. at UW-Stevens Point

What:
Printmaker Amos Kennedy Jr. will conclude his weeklong residency at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Friday, March 30. While at UW-Stevens Point, he has been creating prints and speaking about his work in the Carlsten Gallery of the Noel Fine Arts Center.

On Friday evening and on Sunday during the Festival of the Arts, the prints he created during the residency will be for sale. In addition, a reception will be held in his honor on Friday evening.

Who:
A native of Alabama, Kennedy creates letterpress and book art that has earned him a strong following and inspired a documentary film, “Proceed and Be Bold,” by filmmaker Laura Zinger.

"The work of this self-proclaimed ‘Humble Negro Printer’ raises emotionally charged questions and reveals remarkable depth beneath the bold print," says Zinger. “By learning the rules and then choosing to break them, Amos redefines what life (and letterpress printing) can be: exhilarating and subversive.” For more, see www.kennedyprints.com.
