Central State Chamber Orchestra to present spring concert

Junior and senior high school string players from Central Wisconsin will perform in a spring concert at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday, May 12.

The Central State Chamber Orchestra (CSCO), sponsored by the Aber Suzuki Center, will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.

The concert will feature works from Pachelbel, Elgar, Britten and Leroy Anderson. The highlight of the evening will be Handel’s “Concerto Grosso Opus 6, No. 6,” with featured solos by CSCO students Michael Josephson, Wade Dittburner, and Emily Clay.

The orchestra, directed by David Becker, faculty member of the Aber Suzuki Center, includes string players from Stevens Point, Plover, Wisconsin Rapids, Westfield, Bancroft and Marshfield. The auditions for the group are modeled after those of the Wisconsin High School Honors Orchestra.
