Public universities to launch historic initiative committing to
increasing the number of baccalaureate degrees by 3.8 million

News media conference call to announce "A Commitment to the Future," a historic movement by more than 450 public universities and colleges to work to boost the nation's degree attainment by 60 percent by awarding an additional 3.8 million baccalaureate degrees between now and 2025. The Commitment includes pledges to reduce time to degree, enhance academic quality and contain per student educational costs.

The effort is led by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities.
