Eimie Vazquez, a Sociology major and Criminal Justice minor, started her job with Americorps NCCC in
Sacramento, California. She will be a team leader for the Blue Unit.
January 2019
Madalyne Fielder, a Sociology student and intern, accepted
a full-time position as the Pretrial/Post-Sentence case manager with JusticePoint
here in Portage Co. Maddy interned past summer at the Portage County
Justice Programs and was featured in the local news.
Allie Bochler, Rachel Pankow, Joseph Rickert, and Charity Schmidt have been accepted into the MSW program of UW-Green Bay.
November 2018
Katelin Bridgman, a Sociology student and intern, was accepted into the Peace
Corps. She will be serving the full-term program in Moldova in the Community and Economic Development Sector.
March 2018
Sarah DeGuire, a sociology/social work major
and SSWO president, was offered a job at Juneau County as a Child Youth
and Families Social Worker to begin in May.
Aimee Smolens, a sociology major (and biology major/psychology minor) who graduated in May 2016, was accepted into Virginia Tech's Masters of Public Health program, beginning in fall 2018.
February 2018
Sienna
Warnecke, a sociology major (and psychology major/women and gender
studies minor) who graduated in 2016, was accepted to
UW-Stout’s Clinical Mental Health graduate program, beginning in fall 2018.
December 2017
Angela
Bemowski, a graduate of December 2017, was hired as a social worker in the Children's Long Term
Support Unit at Marathon County Department of Social Services. Angela
will be providing services to families who have children with
disabilities.
November 2017
Bryce
LaLuzerne, a sociology major and criminal justice minor, was hired on at the
Grand Chute Police Department as a new officer. Bryce
completed a sociology internship with the Grand Rapids police department
this summer and is graduating in December.
October 2017
Erik Larson, a Sociology and Social Work graduate of 2014, received his MSW in Social Work Policy
from the University of Denver. He is currently working as a Community Development Specialist for the Taney County Health Department in Branson, Missouri.
July 2017
Julia Delvaux, our recent Sociology/Social Work graduate, was recently accepted into
AmeriCorps NCCC. She will be starting a 10-month position in California
in October. She will be serving in the Pacific Northwest region. She is
then applying to UW-Madison's full-time MSW program for the fall of
2018.
June 2017
Katie Rabas and Kayla Skaletski, both UWSP Sociology/Social Work graduates of May 2016, graduated
from the full-time MSW program in Madison. They both just passed their
WI state board exams for their advanced practice certifications. In
addition, both Katie and Kayla are in the process of getting their pupil
services licenses through the Department of Public Instruction for school
social work. Katie was hired by the Marinette School District, and Kayla
was hired by the Whitnall school district outside of Milwaukee.
May 2017
Nicole Smith, a sociology graduate of May 2017, started a crisis counselor position at the Family Crisis
Center in Stevens Point. Nicole completed a two-semester internship with the FCC through our department.
April 2017
Nicholas Mason, our Sociology/Social Work graduate of 2014, is working at the Eau Claire Academy as Core Staff Supervisor. This is a treatment facility
for children and teenagers. Nicholas' position and the team he supervises respond to the “crises” that the residents have in their daily
living at the facility. He work closely with
the therapists and case managers within the building.
Jenny
Fischer, our Sociology graduate, was recently accepted into the Mercy
Volunteer Corps. She’ll be working with the non-profit project HOME in
Philadelphia,
beginning this upcoming August.
March 2017
Katherine Haen, a sociology graduate of December 2016, was hired in a family case manager position through Menomonie
County. Katherine completed a two-semester internship with Shawano County Health Services through our department.
