Certificates of Insurance (COI) and Vendor Insurance

Risk Management provides assistance with the certificate of insurance reviews and confirmations for third party events involving youth/minors.

Refer to the insurance information for third party youth under resources and hosting youth events at UWSP.

Vendor Insurance Requirements

When an institution contracts with a vendor for materials, equipment, supplies, or services, that vendor's activities and the goods create an inherent liability risk to the UW System and UWSP. The goal of vendor insurance requirements is to protect the institution from loss or exposure to loss resulting from any negligence on the part of an under/uninsured vendor who furnishes services to the institution.

By obtaining an appropriate certificate of insurance and maintaining a current certificate of insurance on file, for a high risk procurement, the institution has evidence that insurance has been obtained which transfers risks associated with the business relationship with the vendor from the institution to the insurer.

Contact the Risk Manager or Purchasing Director for questions.

Signature Authority

Remember, the only individuals with designated signature authority are authorized to sign contracts and agreementse on behalf of UWSP. See Finance and Administration signature authority listing.

If you need a certificate of insurance from UWSP for an organization or event, please contact the Risk Manager for that request.
