Executive Order #54: Mandated Reporting for Child Abuse and Neglect
Effective December 19, 2011, Executive Order #54 requires individuals whose employment brings them in contact with children to report any suspected abuse or neglect.
Requirements of EO #54 are coordinated by Human Resources at UW-Stevens Point.
As university staff, administrators and faculty, we are required to report any suspected maltreatment regarding the child's health, safety, and welfare. Individuals making reports in good faith are immune from criminal and/or civil liability. If an individual intentionally fails to report suspected child abuse or neglect they may be fined up to $1,000, imprisoned up to 6 months, or both.
When in doubt ask your supervisor, Human Resources, or place the call to the Portage County Health and Human Services Department.
Mandatory Sexual Assault Reporting
Chapter 36.11 (22), Wisconsin Statutes, requires “any person employed at [UW-Stevens Point] who witnesses a sexual assault on campus or receives a report from a student enrolled in the institution that the student has been sexually assaulted shall report to the Dean of Students of the institution. The Dean of Students shall compile reports for the purpose of disseminating statistical information.”
Title IX
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects individuals from discrimination based on sex in any educational program or activity operated by recipients of federal financial assistance. Sexual harassment, which includes acts of sexual violence, is a form of sex discrimination prohibited by Title IX.
All "responsible employees" at UW-Stevens Point must report incidents of sexual violence to the Title IX Coordinator or other appropriate school designee. For more information about employee reporting requirements, visit the
UW-Stevens Point Title IX website. Designated responsible employees at UW-Stevens Point are designated by the Title IX Coordinator.
